who will rock the cradle when you're gone

I got this fortune cookie this evening. How fitting. leaving tomorrow
see you later Winnipeg:

"When we're all gone at last then there'll be nobody here but death and his days
will be numbered too. He'll be out on the road there with nothing to do and nobody to
do it to."

Razorblades for sale.

I think around this time of year it is pretty standard to compile a list of  the top releases that come out that year. Last year I put absolutely no thought into my list and I probably posted things that were released the year before and I certainly skipped over mentioning some great records that came out in 07 and I will probably forget some again this year. You might think due to lack of  vivian girls and fucked  up on my favorites list that  I know nothing about music and you are most likely right ...

Here is my list for 2008:

LPs
1) Annihilation Time - III
2) Blank Dogs- On two sides
3) Cheap time - s/t

Even though christmas mostly feels like a sham, it is still fun to give your friends presents.

So my dear friend Luke Marvin who happens to work at the cafe next to my work, informs me today that he sneak attacked some footage of me dancing at the shred premiere and posted in on his genius blog. So of course I had to check out the product because Luke makes hilarious and wonderful videos. This is the shred premiere through his two eyes ( sometimes four eyes) .

you should look at his blog. It's more entertaining than mine.

i'm in love, with that song

" For a good while they were the best band in the world. Here's why: because they weren't for everybody and they didn't try to be. Because they made it look like it was a lot of fun to be alive, to be in a band. Because they were so powerfully awful and so awfully powerful. Because everytime you saw them play, you savored every moment because you knew the clock was ticking."

From the preface of the book THe replacements, all over but the shouting an oral history by jim walsh.

P.s this my first post from my phone. Wooo

I know why the caged bird sings

A life without pain is the very thing I had dreamed for years, but now that I had it , I couldn't find a place for myself within it. A clear gap separated me from it, and this caused me great confusion. It felt as if I were not anchored to the world- this world that i had hated so passionately until then; this world that I had continued to revile in for its unfairness and injustice; this world where at least I knew who I was. Now the world ceased to be the world and I had ceased to be me.
